Is there any reason why not to use short segments in RailNoise?

There is no technical reason why you shouldn't use short segments, but be sure to reduce the cut-off angle from the default of 1 degree to maybe 0.2 or 0.1 degrees.  Don't set it to zero, though.

Remember that a full calculation is made for every segment, so this will increase calculation time.  We normally advise that segments should be as long as you can make them whilst fitting the geometry to a suitable accuracy.
